Axel Georg Bugge was raised in his native Norway, Singapore and the U.K. He has been posted in Lisbon for 11 years and before that worked as a foreign correspondent in Denmark, the U.K., Argentina and Brazil.

He covered the eurozone debt crisis extensively, both in Lisbon and abroad, attending frequent European summits in Brussels and reported from Madrid, Athens and London. Since then, he has covered Portugal’s politics and recovery from the debt crisis, including the rise of the country’s start-up economy.

Before Europe’s debt crisis, he was part of Reuters' team covering G20 summits and IMF/World Bank meetings in the wake of the Lehman collapse. He also reported on the negotiations and signing of the Lisbon Treaty, which includes the infamous Article 50 on leaving the European Union.

During his time in Brazil, he charted the rise to power of President Lula.

He holds a BSc in International Politics and MA in Journalism. He has written a novel about modern-day slavery in Brazil's Amazon, inspired by a true story, and co-authored two crime novels set in Portugal. He speaks Portuguese, Spanish, English and Norwegian.

Paulo Soeiro de Carvalho is currently the General Director for Economy and Innovation in the Lisbon City Council. He is responsible for the areas of Economy/Investment, Entrepreneurship, Innovation/Knowledge, Strategic Clusters and Employment in the City Council.

Paulo Soeiro de Carvalho is a researcher and an expert in Foresight, Strategy and Innovation, with more than 15 years of experience in consulting, teaching and training projects in those fields.

He has been working in consulting projects in the fields of foresight, scenario planning, strategy and innovation with public and private organisations in different industries including telecommunications, electronics, software and tourism. He has been coordinating and facilitating change and innovation projects in different types of industrial and services companies.

In the last years he has been very active in several academic and training activities in the fields of Foresight and Scenario Planning, Strategy and Competitiveness, including the design and the scientific coordination of a Post Graduation in “Foresight, Strategy and Innovation”, advanced executive programs in “Scenario Planning and Strategic Agility” and “Strategy and Leadership”, in ISEG – Lisboa School of Management and Economics / Lisbon University.

Born in 1969 at Lisbon, Paulo has a PhD in Management Sciences in the Université Jean Moulin Lyon 3, with a thesis entitled: “Scenarios as a tool to give context and sense to Weak Signals in a process of Competitive Intelligence”.Paulo is graduated in Economics in 1994 (ISEG), concluded a Master in Economics and Management of Science and Technology (ISEG) in 1997 and a Master in Foresight and Strategy (Portuguese Institute for Financial and Fiscal Studies) in 1998.

Maurizio is Head of Investment Management Analysis and Strategy at BNP Paribas Real Estate. His principal role is to identify opportunities in European property markets and to formulate strategies for BNP Paribas REIM investors.

Maurizio has been involved in real estate since 2000 and has worked on different subjects including portfolio and risk analysis, forecasting and investment strategy advice. Maurizio has an international background and, prior to his current appointment, was at Grosvenor, Cordea Savills and Property Market Analysis.

Maurizio is active across a number of international associations, including INREV, ULI, the Investment Property Forum and ICSC. He is a regular contributor to industry publications and is currently visiting professor at Reading University, Genoa University and Luiss University in Rome. 

Maurizio’s academic background is economics and finance. He holds an MSc in Economics from the University of London and a BSc (Hons) in Political Science from Genoa University.

Pedro Santa-Clara is currently President of Alfredo de Sousa Foundation.
He holds the Millennium bcp Chair in Finance at Nova School of Business and Economics since 2007.
He was Professor of Finance at UCLA’s Anderson School of Management from 1996 to 2009.
He received a Ph.D. degree in Management from INSEAD, France. He is a research associate of the National Bureau of Economic Research, a research fellow of the Center for Economic Policy Research, and he served on the editorial boards of the Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis, the Journal of Business and Economic Statistics, and Management Science.
Pedro’s research interests are focused on theoretical models of asset pricing and the development of econometric methods to estimate them. His current work focuses on quantitative portfolio management, option pricing, risk management, currency and fixed income markets, and financial econometrics.
Pedro heads Nova SBE’s new campus project and respective fund raising campaign, responsible for collecting 50M Euros from private benefactors.
Pedro is a partner of Atrium Investimentos, an asset management firm. He has consulted with investment banks and hedge funds on pricing derivatives, risk management, and developing investment strategies.

Dr. Florian Klein is an advisor, corporate strategist and futures thinker with extensive experience in providing strategic counsel to senior decision makers at leading multi-national corporations and governments across Europe and globally. He is expert in facilitating the creation of robust strategies today, in light of an uncertain tomorrow.

Over the last 17 years, Florian has conducted a diverse range of strategy formulation and capability building projects across multiple geographies and sectors, including banking and finance, the energy and mining, technology, retail, transport, telecommunications, as well as the government and NGO sector.

Florian founded and leads the Center for the Long View (CLV), which is Deloitte’s global center of excellence for scenario planning. The Center pushes the boundaries of current strategy development by applying Artificial Intelligence tools and by emphasizing the holistic nature of qualitative analysis. Florian is also the Service Offering Leader for Corporate and Business Unit Strategy at Monitor Deloitte Germany, and forms part of Deloitte’s international Brexit Task Force.

Florian holds a Ph.D. in Environmental Economics from the London School of Economics, an International MBA from Instituto de Empresa in Madrid, and a Master in Development Studies from the University of Tübingen.

Peter is a member of RHC’s Executive Committee and leads Round Hill’s development Programme across Europe.

Peter has previously been responsible for developing over six million square feet of commercial and residential space in London, the UK and Europe. Prior to joining RHC, he was responsible for the growth of EC Harris’s development consulting business that was acquired by Arcadis NV.

Prior to this, he established Creywell Ltd, a Development Management consultancy firm which was sold to EC Harris. He also previously held the role of Development Director for Hines Europe.

Peter is a Chartered Surveyor and attended Manchester University.

João is responsible for RHC’s development projects in Portugal and has over ten years of real estate experience.

Prior to joining Round Hill Capital in 2018, João worked for Teixeira Duarte, where he was involved in the development of over 3 million square feet of commercial, residential and mixed used development opportunities in Portugal and Africa.

João started his career working as a project manager, helping to bring forward a 1.5 million square feet of residential and office schemes in Portugal.

He holds a combined MSc in Civil Engineering and is a member of the Portuguese Chamber of Chartered Engineers.

Simon Schaefer began as a designer in 1997, working for German startups with his own interactive agency. He has invested in about 50 angel- and seed-stage companies and In 2011 he co-founded Factory, a campus model for Startups, launching the very fist of Europe´s mega-campuses. After launching the worlds first Policy / Startup conference Startup Europe Summit with the European Commission in 2015 and 2016 the Factory team launched the next Berlin Campus "Silicon Allee” in 2017. Him and his partners launched Factory Lisbon in 2018 as the anchor of Camera Municipal de Lisboa´s innovation district Hub Criativo do Beato. Simon is driving the Portuguese Initiative for Entrepreneurship Startup Portugal as President of the Association and is a member of the Atlantic Council of Allied for Startups, and is a member of the investment Committee of the 200M co-investment fund.
